Inside i-WASP

Think of it as a map for determining the most appropriate route for moving ahead from the beginning of an idea about a project to the successful delivery and operation of the resultant facility. By anticipating available routes or pathways, it is possible to plan the execution of a project with greater certainty. It is not, however, a rigid model to fit all situations, since it requires aligning with the client's needs and requirement to produce a tailor-made approach. As a key tool of project management, i-WASP allows teams to define roles, relationships, responsibility and accountability with ease.

Example i-WASP map (part)

You may, or may not, be familiar with theĀ Map of Medicine as used by NHS professionals. The Map is 'a web-based visual representation of evidence-based patient care journeys covering 28 medical specialties and 390 pathways. As healthcare provision becomes much more specialised the need to plan and then benchmark clinical practice against national standards, whilst incorporating local intricacies, is key'. Think of i-WASP as the construction equivalent, compiled through meticulous collection of information and data to support reliable decision-making, project case histories and benchmarked outcomes, that embodies know-how in a readily-accessible form. This knowledge-base is available to you and your team online 24/7.

Every construction project relies on the expertise and skills of many specialties to produce a successful outcome. Channelling and coordinating their efforts needs an explicit plan aligned to the project's goals. i-WASP provides that plan tailored to your project, with explanation and help available where you need it - within the map. We chose the name Integrated Work Activity & Sequencing Protocol (i-WASP) because it is precisely that - a map to support your pursuit of best practice, and results that can be benchmarked against the best.

Maps showing a particular part of the map (or process) can be located directly by clicking on the relevant intersection in a matrix that brings together stages in the process and project management disciplines.
